Welcome to the Australian Local Government Women's Association  (ALGWA) Victorian Branch web site.

ALGWA is the peak body representing the interests of women in Local Government across Australia.

The Association seeks to assist in furthering women's knowledge, understanding and participation in the function of Local Government.

Membership is open to all interested in supporting and encouraging women's participation in Local Government.

ALGWA encourages and supports women to become actively involved in their communities and in the key decision making processes of Local Government.

Taking Up The Challenge in 2008 Candidate Workshops underway

The Victorian Branch of the Australian Local Government Women's Association in conjunction with the City of Yarra Council has launched the Taking Up The Challenge in 2008 Candidate handbook and information kit for the 2008 Local Government elections.
