Join us, with Dr Amanda Sinclair in an exploration of how to build and retain strength and authenticity in leadership roles in local governments.
Thursday 27 May 2010 5.00 pm-9.00 pm
VLGA 60 Leicester Street, Carlton Fee: $155.00 members or $165 non-members (includes delicious light meal)
Amanda has extensive teaching and research experience on the subject of leadership and how it intersects with gender.
Her challenging contentions include that:
• gender, sexuality and power have shaped and limited leadership in business • trust, openness and a moderate ego are emerging as critical capabilities • leadership should be directed towards new purposes of promoting freedom and well-being.
The focus will be on how these approaches to leadership in the 21st century can be applied in local government and community leadership. This intensive is designed to allow interaction and reflection on what doing leadership differently means.
This event is part of VLGA’s activities during 2010 National Year of Women in Local Government.
