The Australian Local Government Women's Association 2008 Study Award ____________________________________________________________ The ALGWA Study Award for 2008 was presented to Tracey Mallett on Thursday 9th October at Parliament House. Minister of Women's Afairs, the Hon Maxine Morand made the presentation of a $1000 cheque and certificate in memeory of Marie Wallace OAM JP former State and National President of ALGWA. Tracey isan Organisational Development Manager at the City of Whittlesea Council and is undertaking a Masters of Information Systems at Melbourne University. She will complete her degree in December 2009. ________________________________________________________________________ The National Framework for Women in Local Government- The Way Forward ______________________________________________________________ The Australian Local Government Women's Association (ALGWA) launched The Way Forward a review of the 2001 National Framework for Women in Local Government in June 2007. Funded by the Australian Government through the Women's Leadership and Development Program, the review identifies achievements and changes in issues reflecting women's participation in Local Government. The document was distributed to all Victorian Councils in June 2007 and the ALGWA National Board is now establishing a National Steering Committee to oversee the implementation of the findings of its research and reccomendations.
