The Way Forward

The National Framework for Women in Local Government was produced following extensive consultation with women in Local Government in November 2001.

In 2006 the ALGWA National Board undertook a review of the National Framework through focus groups, national roundtable discussions, forums and an on line survey.

In May 2007 the review of The National Framework for Women in Local Government - The Way Forward was launched in Canberra and through ALGWA State and Territory Branches.

Copies of The Way Forward were mailed to all Councils and Local Government Associations and a follow up contact was undertaken with Victorian Council CEO's to ascertain the responses and support for the reccomendations and strategies proposed in The Way Forward.

The Australian Local Government Women's Association recognises the following Victorian Councils who have endorsed or implemented the reccomendations from the ALGWA National Framework for Women in Local Government - The Way Forward.

ALGWA congratulates these Councils on their support and encouragment of women's participation in Local Government.
